Décor to capture the imagination

The Wallpaper Museum at Rixheim in the Alsace, certified as a Musée de France, will change the way you look at those rolls you think you know !  It is one of the technical museums of the Southern Alsace and offers the chance to admire wallpaper dating back to the 18th Century right up to the present day, from traditional domino-print patterns to creations by contemporary designers.

The panoramics, which turn walls into visions of far off countries, exotic landscapes and idyllic gardens, are the stuff of dreams. Take a trip back in time to the beginning of the 19th Century, to India or North America; relive the Greek war of independence or admire the lush flora of Eldorado.

Please note ! At present, the museum’s tour route is being reduced due to work on the building.

The panoramic section of the museum will be closed to the public from 22 March 2023. This section is located in the converted attic of the central building of the Commanderie de Rixheim. This building complex, classified as a historical monument, is undergoing a restoration programme (roofs, frameworks, exterior woodwork, façades, etc.).
